Memorialul "Calvarul Aiudului"

In Aiud, orasul in care mi-am petrecut copilaria si adolescenta, exista un monument dedicat martirilor neamului romanesc, inchisi in inchisorile comuniste.

Am petrecut aici cateva clipe de reculegere, in amintirea acestor oameni.....

In Aiud, the city where I spent my childhood and adolescence, there is a Monument of the Romanian people's Martyrs, imprisoned in communist prisons. This monument was built in the memory of the spiritual and intellectual, anticomunist romanian elite that was closed in the Aiud's prison, from 1947 to 1964. Imprisoned in Aiud, passed out some intellectuals of Romania, before the Second World War, as poets Radu Gyr and Vasile Voiculescu, philosopher Mircea Vulcanescu, Prof. G.Manu, journalist Nichifor Crainic, Father Staniloaie, Father Galerius, Father Calciu-Dumitreasa, Father Justin Parvu, 240 Romanian Army's elite generals and many others.

Construction of the memorial, made by the
initiative of the still alive survivors, was completed in 1999 and in the year 2000, the Archbishop Bartholomeu sanctified the Altar, inside the monument. The monument is located near Orthodox cemetery where my parents are resting. Form is impressive. The monument has the shape of a rectangular block, within which is the Altar to which reach a large number of steps descending and on lateral  sides is carved in marble heroes name.

Above, seven crosses are placed vertically, symbolizing indistinguishable
unity of the suffering heroes and a large wooden cross, based on the seven crosses, represent the "Nation Cross" they took her back.

A pious thought for all those who are persecuted for righteousness!
